Basalt junior Sierra Bower captured the girls 3A title at the Colorado High School Activities Association state championships, setting a classification record by clocking 18:00.1 on the 5-kilometer layout at Norris Penrose Events Center. Bower lowered the previous 3A mark of 18:19.2 set last year by Kaylee Thompson of The Classical Academy. Bower also improved from her 24th-place finish of 20:12 last season to run the fastest overall time of all classifications combined.
